The WVTU Fly Fishing School

When: June 5-7, 2009
Where: Camp Pioneer 4-H Camp, Beverly, West Virginia

Every year, WVCTU hosts a Fly Fishing School at Camp Pioneer 4-H Camp near Beverly, West Virginia. Expert instructors teach the basic skills you need to enjoy this sport in just one weekend. Program Highlights

Friday (Day 1) : Beautiful scenery surrounds Camp Pioneer in every direction for as far as the eye can see. Lodging is dormitory style, with separate bathhouses and sleeping facilities for men and women. You will need to bring your own sheets, blankets and pillows, or a sleeping bag. Meals are provided all day Saturday, with breakfast and lunch on Sunday. Student registration, orientation and casting instruction comprise the instruction which takes place on Friday evening.

Saturday (Day 2): Saturday is when the real nitty-gritty part of the instruction takes place. There's an emphasis on fly casting, with instruction on knot tying, equipment selection, fly selection, rods, fly tying, entomology and much more.

Sunday (Day 3) : On the final day of the class, the students are taken to a nearby trout stream for a personalized guided fishing excursion. That's not to say that the instruction stops. It is here that the students have their casting reinforced and receive instruction on trout food, safe wading, reading water and landing and releasing fish.

A limited number of loan rods & reels are available. Wading gear is recommended; loan waders are not available. Direct inquiries to John Richard 304-621-1816, or Jack Bell 304-864-3859.
